Funding Databases
Researchers seeking funding opportunities can use sponsored research opportunity databases to locate funding awards for which they are eligible. USC subscribes to the two leading commercial databases, InfoEd SPIN and Community of Science (COS). In addition, several other databases that are useful to investigators are listed below as well.
Many databases, including SPIN and COS, also offer email notification services where researchers can create customized email bulletins to receive regular alerts about upcoming competitions in their areas of interests.
- Pivot Community of Science
Pivot Community of Science is a comprehensive database of sponsored research opportunities across all fields, including the sciences, humanities, and arts. Pivot/COS includes federal and non-federal sources, including foundations. Allows search for faculty by expertise and key areas of research and allows funding opportunities to be matched to individual faculty. Automatic notifications on opportunities can be created. Can from a valid USC IP address, or externally by registering email address and password with Pivot/COS.
- Sponsored Program Information Network (SPIN)
Along with COS, one of the two major comprehensive databases of sponsored research opportunities across all fields. Must access from a valid USC IP address.- E-mail alert: SPIN’s GENIUS bulletin service

Searchable database of funding opportunities for research and education specifically in the biological and medical sciences.
