FEDERAL FUNDING PATHWAYS: USC recently led the submission of two NSF National Artificial Intelligence Research Institutes proposals and served as a partner institution on several other submissions to the same program. The Office of Research Advancement looks forward to helping USC researchers with federal proposals as of January 4th.

USC STEVENS CENTER FOR INNOVATION: USC Stevens has launched its 2021 Technology Advancement Grants RFP that will give out up to 6 awards of up to $50,000 each.  The full RFP can be found here:  https://stevens.usc.edu/researchers/program-funding-announcements/.   Letters of Intent are due on February 5, 2021.  If you have any questions or need assistance, please reach out to your USC Stevens Licensing Associate:  https://stevens.usc.edu/contact-us/

OPRS/IRB:

  • USC IRB has launched a new Slack workspace to make it easier to access up-to-date information regarding USC Human Subjects Research.
  • To increase efficiency, improve the quality of study protocol submissions, and to reduce review wait times, on December 4th the iStar platform removed prompts in Sections 10, 11 and 12 from the application.  Instead, as of January 1st, IRB proposals will include a fully developed protocol in iStar Section 5.2. Studies already in the queue will be grandfathered. New studies will be returned without review if the appropriate protocol in not included. For details, visit our website.
  • The IRB office, like the rest of USC, will be closed between December 21st and January 3rd.
