IP Momentum Event
As part of the USC and Techstars Digital Economy Program, the partners recently hosted a 2-day bootcamp event designed for USC faculty and staff – IP Momentum. The bootcamp was geared towards members of the USC community engaged in technology licensing and commercialization processes, with a focus on the critical steps necessary to translate ideas and inventions to the startup development stage.
Day 1 speakers featured Ralph Lin, Managing Director, Office of Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering, Alexandra Dworsky, Co-Founder of Mesa Talent, Gabriel Schlumberger, Managing Director of the USC-Techstars program, and Jason Tahir, Senior Associate at Struck Capital. Day 2 continued with presentations and discussions led by Ahmed Mirza, an Investor with Techstars and Faculty Advisor/Adjunct Professor at UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, and Gerald Loeb, Professor of Biomedical Engineering at USC.
Virtual Pitch Day Showcase
Another exciting upcoming event is the USC and Techstars University Catalyst Pitch Day Showcase. The virtual event will take place on November 14th from 12:00PM PST to 2:00PM PST and will feature pitches from early-stage founder participants from the University Catalyst pre-accelerator program. The inaugural University Catalyst program featured the following companies, those of which include USC faculty, students, and alumni: 3Dropolis; Ardist Inc.; Ashvins AI; Autonomie AI; Bullseye AI; ChewyLogic LLC; Clinicode; CpG Diagnostics; edmX; Lunacare; MacroBreed; Momentvm; Prosporus; Sanqi Therapeutics LLC; Common Ground (formerly SegmentSavvy); Treffa; and Underdose. USC-Techstars Accelerator Program & Application Information
The USC-Techstars Digital Economy Program is currently accepting applications for its accelerator program. The 13 week in-person on-campus accelerator will welcome its inaugural cohort in March of 2025. Companies will be paired with mentors both in and out of the university and be able to tap into the full resources of a major research institution. The accelerator is open to startups in all industries, but with a particular focus on bioscience, engineering, AI, healthcare, deep tech, and media technology.
